I have always been fascinated by dreams. As a layperson, I see them as the subconscious mind coming into focus in photographic ways, which rekindled the deepest thoughts of whatever we deem important to us. Also, another approach could be that we, as spiritual beings with those physical experiences, those two worlds intersect at intervals that afford us this window from which to see into a higher plane? The Bible speaks of dreams being used as warnings or insights into pending events. Twenty scriptures in the Bible highlighted dreams according to the concerns or events at that time. For example, acts 2:17 tells us, “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” However, Ecclesiastes5:7 tells us, “Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore, fear God.” Reading this also created a sense of “Oh Well, I better not get too caught up in mysteries of what dreams are or aren’t. Their real answers lie with God?!
What brought this about? Three years ago, I had a traumatic experience, and with time and change, I seldomly think of it, and I wasn’t thinking of it last night. However, last night, I dreamt of the situation, not exactly as it had occurred but rather being apologized to by the person who did so for having allowed it to happen. The background of the dream played out with such vivid scenery. It was like I was transported back into time, but everything had a different twist. Ongoing over this in my mind has me thinking, what is the real meaning behind the subconscious mind replaying events and images from our waking moments with such force with depth? With the curiosity of a child and wisdom of an adult who has lived, in my ignorance and insights, I decided not to lose brain cells over figuring out what I don’t fully understand as to the deeper meanings behind dreams. There are moments when I see them as a warning or answers to ever-present questions, but what do I know? Your input would be greatly appreciated! What do you think?
